You will be working as part of an enthusiastic, supportive, and experienced multidisciplinary team (neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, social workers) where you will exercise complex clinical reasoning in regard to assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning.
As part of an experienced and skilled Occupational Therapy team who will provide support and guidance, you will hold your own caseload of patients across both wards on the site.

Conduct comprehensive assessments of students'' sensory, motor, and self-care skills to determine eligibility for Occupational Therapy provision within their EHCP.
Develop and implement individualised intervention plans to address students'' specific needs and facilitate their participation in school activities.
Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate occupational therapy goals into students'' educational plans and learning environment.
Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluation of intervention effectiveness, adjusting plans as necessary to optimise outcomes.
Conduct training and support to teaching staff on strategies and techniques to promote students'' functional skills and independence within the classroom setting.
Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, case notes, annual review reports and intervention plans in accordance with regulatory standards and LCP policies.
Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings to contribute expertise and ensure coordinated care for students with complex needs.

Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Occupational Therapist – Single Handed Care DIVISION: Adult Social Care RESPONSIBLE TO: Operational Manager Therapies &amp; Assistive Technology PURPOSE OF POST:
The Adult Social Care Division exists to promote the independence, inclusion and well-being of all adults with social care needs. It aims to do this by enabling people to: • Have control over their lives.
• Live safe, healthy and fulfilled lives.
• Have an active role in a stronger and prosperous community.
• Access the support they need in order to be as independent as they choose. You will be expected to: 1) receive and co-ordinate referrals, undertake the resulting assessments which will predominantly focus on equipment/adaptations and may also include carers assessments; 2) coach and mentor Social Care Assessors and Rehabilitation Officers who are undertaking assessments, support planning and review tasks; 3) influence the direction of future services by promoting independence, enablement and rehabilitative models. You will be expected to be able to cover for your line manager on occasion and to also cover for OT’s from other teams if required to do so. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Complete professional strength based and holistic assessments of need and risk for service users and carers with highly complex needs using Luton Borough Council eligibility criteria. This involves:
Undertaking statutory duties under the Care Act 2014 Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act other legislation and guidance relating to service users and carers.
Overseeing a duty role as necessary and prioritising level of intervention (including allocating initial assessments to be undertaken by social care staff) as appropriate
Undertaking moving and handling handling risk assessments. Advising on and providing equipment and techniques to reduce risks and promote customer autonomy and dignity, whilst ensuring a cost-effective service by implementing single-handed care where safe and appropriate.
Working with other professionals and partners to achieve effective joint working through initiatives that require a multi-agency approach, including those involving member interests, Environmental Health or Housing (including producing information and data for reports and statistics), participating in and organising and chairing multi agency meetings
Keeping up to date to with legislative changes and best practice in occupational therapy and providing advice to colleagues
Keeping appropriate case records, statistics and information utilising Council computer case recording systems, and other IT systems where required
To provide professional advice, support and education to staff across health and social care, and key stakeholders in the principles of single-handed care Safeguarding Statement – all staff are expected to: To work in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act and its principles; To ensure that any suspected abuse of an adult at risk is reported in accordance with the Adult Safeguarding Policy and Procedure; To promote awareness of the Adult Safeguarding Policy and the Mental Capacity Act; To Safeguard adults at risk by promoting their health and wellbeing, dignity and respect; To promote the prevention of abuse of service users and carers; To ensure any provider service concerns are reported to the Purchasing and Quality Team. Including evidence of ability to evaluate alternative lines of action, identify degrees of priority and urgency and make creative and sound judgments in providing solutions on case work issues. Able to make professional judgements, accept the consequences of own actions and negotiate resources in a multi-disciplinary setting. Able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) and work with service users, carers and with a wide range of other professionals collaboratively. Able to maintain high quality records, write clear, concise reports and correspondence dealing with complex issues. This will involve using Council computer database and case recording systems
