Key Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate client's functional abilities and limitations.
Recommend appropriate equipment and adaptations to improve client's independence and quality of life.
Collaborate with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to develop personalised care plans.

Complete manual handling assessments in accordance with established protocols and best practices.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of assessments, recommendations, and interventions.
Stay updated on the latest developments and best practices in occupational therapy.Qualifications: Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist in a local authority setting.
Strong knowledge of community-based care services and resources.

Start date: ASAP AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for an Occupational Therapist in the Newham area. Purpose: To work closely with Reablement officers (RO's) to embed their Trusted Assessor (TA) skills, to sign-off TA level equipment competencies (second cohort of RO's some of whom have already started the self-directed training) and to deliver more training in house on basic equipment as required.
Revisit the competencies of some the RO's from the first cohort of TA training, who are prescribing fewer items of equipment.
Ensure a greater range of Reablement strategies are used; including wider range of equipment (outside of TA level), identify minor and make recommendations for major adaptations; use of bespoke fatigue management and falls advice; greater bespoke IAG; activity analysis; greater problem solving and to support the development of improved clinical reasoning.
Pilot joint goal setting visits with 3-4 RO's and track benefits in terms of leaving Reablement with no or lower POC compared to the average and ability of the service to increase the scope of referrals accepted.
To hold a small caseload as needed of complex or DHC cases

The London Borough of Sutton is seeking a Children's Occupational Therapist who has a minimum of 2 years experience working with children and in social care. You will be working closely with Social Workers and Family Support Workers. You will also work closely with the Sensory Team, Education, Housing and the NHS to ensure that assessment and recommendations are robust and fully meet the needs of our residents.The client offers a full-time contract with an opportunity to work from home, a fair and manageable caseload and further training in your portfolio. The vacancy will be for an initial 3 - 6 months with potential for extension. Main Duties for the Children's Occupational Therapist includes. Moving and handling assessment and advice: Including provision of hoists/slings and risk assessments addressing specific needs of the child in their home environment.
Equipment provision: Assessment of specialist equipment including beds, shower/bath seats, specialist seating, toileting - assisting daily activities
Minor adaptations: Assessment of need for provision of door widening/grab rails/ramps and safety measures
Home adaptations: Assessment of potential need for adaptations through the national Disabled Facility Grant. Adaptations may include through floor lifts, ceiling track hoists, level access showers, facilitating wheelchair access throughout a property.
Housing needs assessments: Assessments to support a social housing application for a property, identifying specific access needs of a child to be considered when being rehoused.
Attending child in need and safeguarding meetings of allocated children, and close working with Social Workers and the MDT.To be Successful Previous experience working as an Children's Occupational Therapist in the community.
Experienced Adult Social Care OT required with minimum of 2 years' experience.
Specialist OT service to children with a neuromuscular, or genetic condition, or with profound developmental disability, impacting on engagement and function in the home environment.
Community OT post, with experience in assisting and moving, major and minor adaptations.
Community based with provision of equipment to support home working.
Experienced OT with experience in assessing and providing major adaptions such as ramps and stairlifts and manual handling equipment.
