The Child and Youth Mental Health Service is a specialised mental health service supporting children and young people up to 25 years of age. The mhs provides care in both community and hospital settings, focused on improving outcomes for young individuals facing complex mental health challenges. The parent health service provides contemporary public health services to over 740,000 residents in one of Australia’s most coveted lifestyle destinations. With world-class beaches, universities, and a family-friendly environment, this is a rapidly growing region in Queensland’s southeast corner. Job scope includes clinical work within a patient and family/carer centred philosophy, QA and clinical governance, operations (e.g. budgets , KPIs etc.); Education, training, research and professional development. They are seeking an experienced and dedicated psychiatrist to join them. You will provide specialist clinical psychiatric support, contributing to the development of a culture of medical education, and ensuring safe, patient-centered care. As a leader in the department, you will also be responsible for supervising junior staff, participating in quality assurance initiatives, and contributing to research activities. This role includes involvement in providing multidisciplinary care and supporting innovative treatment models for complex cases. Responsibilities include but are not limited to <ul><li>Deliver high-quality patient care through evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.</li><li>Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for patients.</li><li>Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance, and departmental meetings.</li><li>Provide supervision, mentoring, and training to junior medical staff.</li><li>Engage in research, continuous professional development, and education.</li></ul> Selection criteria includes but is not limited to <ul><li>Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent gained in NZ, UK, Ireland, USA or Canada. </li><li>Deep experience in child and adolescent psychiatry. </li><li>Strong clinical and teaching experience.</li><li>A collaborative approach to your work.</li><li>Willingness to participate in the on-call and after-hours roster. </li></ul> For UK and Irish trained psychiatrists there will be an Expedited Specialist Pathway opening up in December.
