About the role

The successful candidate will be a key member of the team and will have the opportunity to continually develop from in house training with our highly qualified Clinical teams. You will also work collaboratively with other clinicians to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention plans for young people with a primary diagnosis of trauma, with associated needs such as ADHD, social communication difficulties, sensory processing needs and Autism within these educational settings.

Essential Criteria:
Degree in Occupational Therapy, HCPC and RCOT membership
Must have Sensory Integration Training/qualification
Valid and up to date HCPC registration
Experience within the specialist client group. (complex trauma, attachment disorders, complex communication issues relating to autism, sensory impairment, learning disabilities/difficulties and associated behaviours that challenge)
Experience of working within an educational setting would be advantageous
Relevant post-qualification experience working as a Therapist, including working with the specific client group in an educational setting
Skills in co-working, liaison and consultation with others, especially with regard to highly complex cases
Specialist knowledge of OT assessments and interventions
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, complex, technical and clinically sensitive information to the specific client group, their carers and families and a wide range of professionals outside the service

Who are we!
Horizon Care &amp; Education are looking for a creative Occupational Therapist to join our passionate team, delivering a comprehensive therapeutic service for children in our care. This role involves providing support and oversight to teams in education.
This is role will be based from the nearest school in your region with an expectation to regularly travel to other sites in your portfolio in accordance to service need. You will conduct assessment and intervention, provide support to teams and be an active part of the wider MDT.
Delivery of training is an important aspect of the role. At Horizon we train all our staff in our Shine Therapeutic model which includes DDP/PACE therapeutic parenting.
What you'll get to do
Manage your own caseload of schools to provide high levels of support and consultation for operational colleagues
Provide therapeutic advice and guidance to teams to enable them to support young people throughout their journey with Horizon
To be responsible for assessments, goal setting and recommendations for therapeutic support for your own caseload.
To develop, write and regularly review/update therapeutic goals for children and young people in education.
To develop and contribute to the delivery of therapeutic and psychological training to all staff in the organisation as part of the Therapeutic Academy.

What were looking for from you:
HCPC registered.
BSc/MSc registered Occupational Therapist
Experience of working with Children and Young People or relevant demonstrable transferable skills
We will accept nearly qualified
Post registration qualifications in sensory integration would be advantageous
A desire to support services through embedding therapeutic practice
Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
Ability to work autonomously with the support from individual and peer supervision
Ability to role model behaviours and attitudes in line with organisational values
A sound understanding of Microsoft Office components, including knowledge of Excel, Teams and SharePoint
Full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle

About the Role
You will work alongside a variety of clients who have differing and/or complex needs by using a strength-based approach. Clients may be elderly and frail, experience a learning disability, physical or sensory impairment, or have mental ill health. This diverse role will facilitate your development and equip you with a large range of skills to enable you to undertake frontline holistic occupational therapy practice within a social care setting. You will have the opportunity to put into practice assessments such as the moving and handling risk assessments and intervention, with the aim of supporting and empowering our clients to live meaningful lives within the community.
Joining us you will work closely with your team members, as well as with other organisations and agencies, to provide an integrated service in order to support vulnerable adults and their carers in a community-based setting. This community-based role requires you to visit clients in their homes, as well as other settings such as residential care and nursing homes.
Shortlisting Criteria To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:
Experience of working within a social care or community focussed multi-disciplinary setting that provides care, support and advice to meet people's long-term needs
Ability to complete person-centred and proportionate OT assessments including moving and handling risk assessments
An in-depth knowledge of medical conditions and the likely impact on the individual and be able to demonstrable knowledge of the impact of long term disability on the individual, carer and family
Continuing professional development. Applicants must have and maintain current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adhere to the HCPC standards for conduct, performance and ethics.
You will need the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of this role.

About the role
