Locum Occupational Therapist/Senior Assessment Officer for disabled children
Job Description:
We are seeking a Locum Occupational Therapist/Senior Assessment Officer to join our team, providing specialized support to disabled children across Manchester. This role focuses on conducting functional assessments for children with both physical and hidden disabilities, aiming to enhance their quality of life and promote independence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct Assessments: Perform functional assessments in various settings, including the child’s home and occasionally at their school, as part of a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) approach, working closely with health colleagues and the social care team.
* Caseload Management: Manage a caseload of children, providing case management support for each allocation to ensure continuity of care.
* Equipment & Adaptation Identification: Assess and identify suitable equipment and adaptations such as postural seating, shower chairs, beds, moving and handling risk assessments, safe spaces, padded rooms, and safety assessments to promote each child’s independence.
* Submissions to Majors Panel: Prepare and submit recommendations to the Majors Panel for approval of necessary adaptations.
* Collaborate with External Agencies: Attend Child in Need (CiN) and MDT meetings where appropriate and work closely with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for each child.
About You:
* Qualified Occupational Therapist with relevant registration or experience as a Senior Assessment Officer.
* Experience in conducting functional assessments for children with disabilities.
* Strong case management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a varied caseload.
* Knowledge of specialist equipment and adaptations that support the needs of children with disabilities.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within an MDT and with external agencies.
* Compassionate and empathetic approach, committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.
