Hunter AHP is recruiting for an experienced Mental Health Pharmacist to join a well-regarded NHS Hospital in Gloucester. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated pharmacist with expertise in mental health to contribute to the delivery of high-quality care in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Key Responsibilities:
Provide clinical pharmacy services to patients in mental health settings, including acute and long-term psychiatric care.
Conduct comprehensive medication reviews for mental health patients, ensuring safe and effective drug therapy.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers) to optimise medication management and improve patient outcomes.
Offer expert advice on psychotropic medications, including antipsychotics, antidepressants, mood stabilisers, and anxiolytics.
Participate in ward rounds, providing medication expertise and supporting prescribing decisions.
Support the safe and effective use of medications for patients with mental health disorders, including complex cases and polypharmacy.
Monitor and manage the side effects of psychiatric medications, making recommendations for adjustments where appropriate.
Provide education and training on mental health medications to hospital staff and patients.
Contribute to audits, quality improvement projects, and the development of clinical guidelines for mental health pharmacy practice.
Ensure compliance with NHS policies and regulatory standards for medication management.
Requirements:
GPhC registration (essential).
Experience as a Mental Health Pharmacist in an NHS or hospital setting (preferred).
Strong clinical knowledge of psychotropic medications and their application in the treatment of mental health disorders.
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to collaborative care plans.
Ability to assess and manage the pharmacological needs of mental health patients, including complex cases and polypharmacy.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals effectively.
