Locum Consultant Radiologist (3 months)

NHS Lanarkshire Wide - University Hospital Monklands

NHS Lanarkshire invites applications for a Locum Consultant to help support and improve the Radiology service.

The post is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis (including up to 2 non-DCC) but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time. If full-time, up to 2 EPAs may be available to undertake additional clinical activity

The post will have a base hospital site, some sessions may be completed at one of the other two hospital sites within the Health Board by mutual agreement at Job Planning depending upon the particular subspecialty interest and the clinical requirements of the service.

The successful applicants will contribute to an evening (until 6pm) and weekend daytime on site working for reporting plain films, USS and CT. Outside these hours the on-call is outsourced to a third party provider with the local radiologist acting as a second-on via an on-call rota in case of the unlikely event of an IT issue or unusual clinical queries.

The successful applicant would be welcomed into the pan-Lanarkshire service but by the post being site based, you will join a very supportive team of friendly hard working colleagues who work closely to deliver the care needed by the patients of Lanarkshire.

Lanarkshire is part of the West of Scotland Clinical Network and the majority of the MDTs work closely with Regional Cancer MDTs. Involvement in MDTs is strongly encouraged. Each hospital has strong links with Glasgow University and the University of Strathclyde. Under- and post-graduate education is an important part of the posts and many consultants are honorary Senior Lecturers at Glasgow University.

NHS Lanarkshire is situated to the east, south and south-west of Glasgow. It is in close proximity to Scotlands largest City and the Leisure, Sport and Entertainment opportunities this brings. It also encompasses the beautiful Clyde Valley. The Ayrshire coast is nearby to the West. Edinburgh is easily reached to the East, the Trossachs National Park to the north and the Scottish Borders to the South. Glasgow, Prestwick and Edinburgh Airports are also within easy reach. Good schools and comparatively affordable housing are available nearby.
