Appoint Healthcare is proud to partner with a leading national provider of health and social care services for individuals with neurological and mental health needs, as well as learning disabilities. We are excited to invite applications for the role of Lead Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join our dedicated therapy team at our Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in Greenwich.
Our facility features a 19-bed Level 1 Highly Specialist Cognitive-Behavioural ward and an 18-bed Level 2 Neurorehabilitation ward, both designed to provide specialized treatment for patients with physical and cognitive impairments resulting from acquired or traumatic brain injuries.
Role Overview
As the Lead Speech and Language Therapist, you will work within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team, including professionals from neurology, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and social work. Your primary focus will be to ensure the effective delivery of a highly specialised SLT service.
Work Hours / Flexible working
Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership: Lead and manage the Speech and Language team to ensure effective service delivery.
Clinical Management: Plan and prioritize a complex clinical caseload with advanced specialist assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders.
Collaboration: Take a lead role in diagnosis, problem formulation, and rehabilitation planning within the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Intervention: Provide and evaluate interventions as part of an MDT approach and implement service developments.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with patients, families, the MDT, and external agencies.
Training: Develop and deliver in-service education and training programs for the wider MDT.
Advocacy: Ensure the safety and rights of individuals under your care.
As a senior management team member, you will foster a culture of openness, person-centred care, and continuous learning in a high-performing service environment.
Requirements
HCPC registration
Postgraduate dysphagia training
Minimum 2 years of experience at Band 7 level in a neurorehabilitation setting
Supervisory experience
Proven ability to manage a complex caseload independently in neurorehabilitation
Successful candidates will undergo an Enhanced DBS check
