Role description

A clinical pharmacist working for Montu will work within their clinical competencies as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide expertise in clinical medicines management, provide structured remote consultations & medication reviews, management of medicines on transfer of care and systems for safer prescribing, and working with the wider clinical and non clinical team to ensure the safe prescribing and dispensing of patients on CBPM. This role is pivotal to improving the quality of care and operational efficiencies so requires motivation and passion to deliver an excellent service.


Annual Salary £60,000 to £65,000 PA Pro-rata. This is a fulltime Hybrid position with a minimum 3 days a week based in our Reading office.


Responsibilities will include but not be restricted to :

  • Initial consultations with patients to validate medical history and eligibility for CBPM treatment
  • Remote consultations with patients who have already been prescribed CBPM and need regular monitoring and follow up
  • Work closely with consultants and other clinicians as part of an MDT team to manage and monitor safe prescribing in line with guidelines
  • Work closely with partner pharmacies to ensure smooth dispensing and delivery of medication to patients
  • Manage the repeat prescribing reauthorization process by reviewing patient requests for repeat prescriptions and reviewing medicines reaching review dates and flagging up those needing a review within SLA’s
  • Undertake clinical audits of prescribing to ensure safety and compliance to policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate patients’ electronic health records as a result of a consultation or prescription.
  • Implement changes to medicines that result from MHRA alerts, product withdrawal and other local and national guidance
  • Work with the governance and operational teams to ensure the practices are compliant with CQC standards where medicines are involved
  • To contribute to the efficient running and profitability of the service by monitoring and auditing of medicines
  • Attend work related meetings as required
  • To maintain all mandatory training and familiarity with company policies and SOPS
  • Shift based and flexible working maybe required from time to time
  • Attend Clinical supervision to aid reflection of practice
  • Work closely with the operations team to ensure care is provided in a timely manner.
  • Work with Clinical Pharmacist lead to ensure team meets any KPIs set by the organization


Skills, Experience, and Qualification:

  • A UK qualified, registered Pharmacist with a valid GPhC Number.
  • Ideally Undertaken CPD-accredited medical cannabis educational program. Through this will be provided for the successful candidate
  • Independent prescriber qualification
  • Minimum of 4 years post qualifying experience
  • In depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of CBPM
  • Self-motivated individual with high levels of attention to detail
  • Professional, ethical and committed to providing excellent customer care
  • Excellent computer literacy with good working knowledge of office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence at interacting with patients remotely
  • Independent Prescribing Qualification
