Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler
The ExtraCare Charitable Trust are recruiting for a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler to join our friendly team at Lovat Fields Retirement Village in Milton Keynes.
As a Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler you will be an essential member of the team with specific responsibilities relating to the psychological and social wellbeing of residents. Through person centred relationships, you will learn about resident's unique experience of their condition, develop interventions that alleviate distress and where needed assist residents to access external dementia and mental health services.
To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate quick thinking and initiative, especially during critical or crisis situations, always ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents and respond to changing needs, adapt to new situations, and make quick decisions regarding a residents' wellbeing. A flexible, proactive approach is essential.
The role: -
- Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enabler
- 33 hours per week
- £26,102pa (£29,661pa FTE) – PAY AWARD PENDING APRIL 1st
- Lovat Fields, Japonica Lane, Milton Keynes, MK15 9LE
You will: -
- Support residents with dementia and cognitive impairment and mental health and wellbeing
- Implement a Solution Focused Approach to support residents through their challenges and/or difficulties
- Respond to internal referrals, and make external referrals to third sector services as necessary
- Contribute to care plans and housing support plans
- Lead therapeutically driven activities and groups that directly address psychosocial needs of residents living with dementia, transient and long-term mental health conditions
- Contribute expertise to the completion of Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interests Meetings
- Promote the benefits of diagnosis and treatment/symptom treatment through psycho-educational programmes
- Complete risk assessments, and where required raise safeguarding concerns
- Make sound, well-informed decisions while balancing the needs of the residents
About you:-
- Knowledge of Dementia and Mental Health conditions as well as proven experience in providing support to older adults, particularly those living with Dementia and Mental Health conditions
- Competent caseload management and proficient IT abilities
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
- Formal qualification in relevant field (Health & Social Care, Psychology, Counselling)
