About the Role:
As a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist specialising in autism assessments and or ADHD for children and adolescents aged 5-18, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive developmental histories using preferred methods/tools to evaluate children undergoing autism assessments.
- Conducting standalone ADHD assessments.
- Observing the child/young person during sessions and ensuring questions are asked in an age-appropriate and compassionate manner.
- Reviewing ADOS reports, developmental history, and relevant collateral information from home and school in the same session.
- Formulating a diagnosis, concluding the assessment, and providing feedback to the family in a kind, age-appropriate, and compassionate manner, including recommendations and signposting to local/national resources.
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in cases where further information is required, and offering a separate follow-up session to conclude the diagnosis.
- Producing high-quality, detailed diagnostic reports within 48 hours post-assessment, adhering to DSM-5 criteria and report templates. (Admin support for formatting and quality control is provided).
- Requesting onward referrals as clinically necessary, in line with local NHS Trust/ICB protocols.
Our Clinics:
- Up to four appointments per day, paid on a competitive per assessment tariff (self-employed, outside IR35).
- Face-to-face work in Basingstoke, Hampshire (free on-site parking).
- Other options available such as remote and hybrid, depending on your location.
- Flexible working days available Monday to Sunday, accommodating your schedule.
What We’re Looking For:
- GMC-registered doctor with a valid license to practice.
- CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferred, but not essential.
- Expertise and confidence in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) assessments and/or ADHD assessments for children and young people.
- Up-to-date with revalidation and appraisal processes.
