Aspiring Occupational Therapist/ Teaching Assistant Location: Tower Hamlets Pay: Up to £90 per day - dependant on experience

Teaching Assistant role within a primary school for children with Autism and associated, Complex Social Needs – The school is looking for sincere graduates with aspirations in OT, Child Development or associated therapies. Teaching Assistant role to begin immediately, is full time, 5 days a week and the school is looking for support for Autism and communication needs.

The school is a Primary school which is part of an academy for children aged 3-11 years.

The school focuses on a EYFS and Primary curriculum due to the number of ASD

This is vital for you to be able to qualify and disqualify the sectors for yourself, the many variable sectors of mental health and SEN are very different, requiring different personalities and approaches, it’s not a one size fits all. Are you a sincere and driven graduate looking for an opportunity to have further, or your first, practical experience within a Special Educational Needs setting? We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Graduate Teaching Assistant to work within an outstanding school in Tower Hamlets. The school have a high number of children with Autism, Complex Communication Needs, aged 3-11, each child will have a EHCP for their specific need(s) and the level of learning is specific to each child. If you have personal aspirations within OT, Clinical Psychology, Education Psychology and Child Development, this is a good base and TA role in which to start with. This TA role brings out holistic, therapeutic and restorative qualities and skills, all important aspects of a future role as a Qualified Therapist. To gain access to the Education MA you desire, it is crucial to have 9-12 months of paid experience under your belt, you need to be able to qualify and disqualify these areas for yourself. This is a fantastic training ground for both aspirations within mainstream and SEN teaching, watching outstanding Education professionals at work, embracing very challenging environments with their children’s wellbeing always being their main objective. This role is all about giving the children as much joy, stimuli and recognition as possible, each child’s learning ability will dictate the approach and levels of objectives!

Having this experience, working with vulnerable children and understanding the base of your relationships, is crucial for a career in OT or Psychology. Aspiring Occupational Therapist - Tower Hamlets - SEN Teaching Assistant role details:

Primary School for children aged 3-11, tailored curriculum for each student based on SEN needs Up to £90 per day, dependent on experience , Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4pm Weekly training provided every Wednesday- 30 minute sessions Dependent on the class and the student’s need, elements of personal care may be required Autism and a focus on communication and social challenges Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
