Deputy Manager – Leeds
Hours: 37.5 hours supernumerary, with some shift work to cover sickness and holidays
Salary: £29,000 per annum (with double time for bank holidays worked)

Purpose of the Role
To assist in the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care and compliance with all regulatory standards. In the absence of the Registered Home Manager, take the lead to ensure smooth operations and uphold exceptional standards of care. This role primarily involves supporting and mentoring senior and care teams to enhance practices and improve overall service quality.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Support the Registered Home Manager in ensuring compliance with all CQC and regulatory requirements.
Lead the team in delivering safe, caring, effective, and well-led services.
Assist in preparing for inspections and responding to feedback to maintain high standards.
Take responsibility for sending notifications to CQC and ensuring a Duty of Candour.
Staff Management
Mentor and support senior and care staff to improve standards and working practices.
Oversee induction, training, supervision, and appraisals for staff members.
Manage rotas to ensure sufficient staffing that meets the needs of residents.
Lead and motivate the team to deliver person-centered care.
Quality Assurance
Conduct regular audits, including care plans, medication management, and risk assessments.
Support in implementing and monitoring improvements to ensure compliance and quality standards.
Participate in incident reporting, ensuring analysis and follow-up actions are completed.
Resident Care
Support the team in developing and maintaining person-centered care plans.
Engage with residents, families, and external professionals to ensure care needs are met.
Actively monitor resident well-being and coordinate health care interventions where needed.
Financial Oversight
Assist the Registered Home Manager in meeting financial targets and budgets.
Positively promote the home to maximize admissions and occupancy levels.
Other Duties
Participate in the on-call rota to ensure 24/7 support.
Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, including families, staff, and healthcare professionals.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Level 3 qualification in care or equivalent experience.
Significant staff management experience in a care home or similar environment.
Knowledge of CQC standards, regulatory requirements, and person-centered care principles.
Strong communication, organizational, and IT skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Willingness to work flexibly, including covering shifts if required.
Desirable Criteria
Level 4 qualification in Leadership and Management or above.
Experience in managing a care home with a ‘Good’ CQC rating.
Proven ability to implement changes and improvements in care settings.
Budget management experience.
